Fly fishing tuition and courses.

No matter what your age or experience, Famous Fishing’s qualified instructors will save you hours of frustration and uncertainty. From the start, our focus is on clear explanation. We cover a range of subjects: equipment, fly-casting, fish behaviour and diet, safety and rivercraft - providing you with a solid foundation of the right skills for future success. Individual or group courses of one, two and three days are available with full equipment provided.

Advanced chalk stream fly fishing techniques.

We also teach advanced casts and other presentation techniques needed to outwit the most testing fish. You can learn more about trout behaviour in a single day on a chalk stream than you might in a year on another river. Nowhere else do you get the opportunity to stalk fish of such size and quality in such shallow, clear water. If you are interested in entomology and fly tying, we can catch the natural nymphs and insects from the river, identify them, explain their life cycles and importance, and even tie the appropriate imitation right there on the river bank.

Bill Latham is at the highest level in his field and taught us things that no one else ever has. We are indeed grateful.

Client references

I had a fantastic day fishing the Wylye and caught my first trout, thanks to a great guide. I feel I have learned a lot from him - and thoroughly enjoyed myself at the same time.

Jeeyul Yoon
Korea

He took us through the entire process of locating and stalking each fish…and nine times out of ten spotted the take when I had not seen anything. Without him, I’m convinced we would have caught nothing!

Andreas Reiter
Bavaria

Thanks to the ever-patient and deeply knowledgeable John Rippin for showing me the ropes.
